The Dietitian Difference

Every registered dietitian is a nutritionist but not every nutritionist is a dietitian! Unlike dietitians, the nutritionist profession is much less protected under the law. Therefore many nutritionists are practicing without any previous education, training or work experience. Registered dietitians (RDs) have to have:

  • A four-year bachelor degree
  • Complete an internship with 1200 hours or more
  • Pass the national CDR exam
  • Complete continuing education credits to maintain their RD status

What Can a Registered Dietitian Do For You?

Here is just a short list of what RD’s can help you with via the power of nutrition!

  • Weight loss
  • Sports Nutrition
  • Weight gain
  • High Blood Pressure
  • High Cholesterol
  • Meal Planning
  • Following a specific diet such as Vegan/Vegetarian
  • Pediatric and/or family consultations
  • Intestinal disorders
  • Food allergies/sensitivities
  • And so much more!

Class Descriptions

Our unique classes change every month and are offered at a variety of times to suit your needs. Come learn about the latest and greatest ways to keep your body fueled with the power of nutrition! Read more about each class below:

Back to Basics: The Essentials of Eating for a Healthy Lifestyle

Ever feel like you're drowning under the amount of nutrition information there is out there? Does it seem like nutrition recommendations keep changing on you and you just cannot keep up? Do you find yourself throwing up your hands and just eating the cupcake anyways? Then this class is for you! The Back to Basics class is a reoccuring one hour class that is offered once a month and takes nutrition "back to its roots." Learn about some nutrition fundamentals that can give you a solid framework to build your healthy lifestyle upon. You'll also learn more about what a one-on-one nutrition consultation with a registered dietitian is like and how exactly you can benefit from this one-on-one guidance.

Nutrition Workshop (NEW!)

Nutrition is a vast world and one that we are continuing to learn about on a daily basis! This vastness can be overwhelming and it's unwise to try and learn everything all at once. In each Nutrition Workshop we will be focusing on one topic and breaking it down into its finer details. We will also go through an activity together which will help to solidify this information. So whether it be learning the ins and outs of probiotics, becoming a master over an anti-inflammatory diet, or getting to know how to properly eat for pre/post workout, your nutrition knowledge will grow and flourish in these classes.

Grocery Store/Farmer's Market Tours

Ok so I know that grocery stores aren't as exciting as the Grand Canyon, but they can be very confusing and overwhelming. It is best to have a strategy before you go shopping so you don't get pulled in by all the marketing ploys that are about to hit you tempting you to buy that fat-free candy (don't do it!). Each month we will visit a different grocery store and our registered dietitian will walk you through each section arming you the knowledge you need to get the most out of your shopping (nutritionally and money-wise!). Please make sure to sign-up in advance for the tours just so we know you're coming and we can inform you of directions or any changes!

Cooking Demos

Learning how to cook puts the power of nutrition in your hands. Cooking not only saves you money but it allows you the ability to have complete control over everything you eat. Cooking Demos are approximately one hour long and will be held once a month. The theme of the demo will typically reflect the theme of the month so it will always be something new and exciting! Come for the fun and stay for the samples. You might even discover some super secret special recipes that our dietitians have cooked up in their own kitchens! Please make sure to sign-up in advance for the demos so we know how much food to bring!
